Proficiency testing is a means of assessing the ability of laboratories to competently perform specific tests and measurements.

China NIL Research Center for Proficiency Testing (NIL for short hereafter) was founded on December 23, 2002. It is a professional research center that mainly engages in laboratory proficiency testing, measurement audits, nonstandard method validation and QC materials. NIL was accredited by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (No. CNAS PT0002) in August 2003. It is the first independent corporate entity possessing the qualification for providing proficiency testing in China.

NIL carries out proficiency testing activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010 “Conformity assessment General requirements for proficiency testing " to evaluate the ability of testing laboratories and monitors them continually.

Since founded, NIL has organized over 5000 proficiency testing schemes (PTS). Among these PTS, there are over 1400 international PTS and over 700 international laboratories from 71 countries and regions including Europe, America, Australia, Africa, Asia, etc.
